\({\rm\bf RoboBlocky\; Math}^{\rm TM}\) is an innovative curriculum designed for\({\rm\bf Learning\;Math\; with\; Coding\; and\; Robotics}^{\rm TM}\). It is the nation's first and only comprehensive TK-12 math program integrating mathematics with coding and robotics, fully aligned with state math standards and approved for adoption by the California State Board of Education (SBE) under the new California Math Framework.
Developed in collaboration with the UC Davis C-STEM Center and thousands of K-12 administrators and teachers, RoboBlocky Math reflects more than two decades of research and development focused on improving how students learn mathematics. The curriculum is designed to support effective, High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM), standards-aligned instruction across diverse learning environments.
The videos on this Showcase page, shown below, feature district and school administrators, teachers, and students sharing their experiences with RoboBlocky Math, including classroom examples, discussions, and reflections on program implementation. These firsthand perspectives, presented at the annual C-STEM Conferences in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, highlight the program’s impact, how it achieves effective, standards-aligned instruction in accordance with the California Math Framework, engages students, and produces measurable gains in mathematics achievement.
RoboBlocky Math is organized around Big Ideas that promote coherence and help students connect skills, strategies, and broader mathematical understanding, supporting the goals of the California Math Framework. RoboBlocky provides extensive instructional resources and supports the development of mathematical language for all students, especially multilingual learners, through math discourse, enabling students to articulate their reasoning, justify solutions, and engage in collaborative problem solving. This approach fosters deep conceptual learning, real-world problem solving, and mathematical reasoning, while promoting engagement through hands-on and inquiry-based experiences.
RoboBlocky Math Core, Accelerated and Highly Accelerated, and Intervention and Enrichment Curricula
RoboBlocky Math is organized into three complementary curricula to meet the needs of all students. The Core Curriculum provides grade-level, standards-aligned instruction across TK–12, integrating math with coding and robotics through hands-on, inquiry-based learning. The Accelerated and Highly Accelerated Curriculum offers rigorous, fast-paced courses that compact multiple years of content, enabling advanced learners to master grade-level and above-grade-level standards. The Intervention and Enrichment Curriculum provides flexible support: intervention strengthens foundational skills, while enrichment deepens understanding through extended problem-solving. Together, these pathways ensure that every student can build confidence, engage with mathematics meaningfully, and prepare for success in future STEM learning.
Through coding, robotics, simulations, and discussion, students are given opportunities to explore mathematical ideas, apply their knowledge, and reflect on their growth. These experiences help students develop confidence, curiosity, and a sense of ownership over their learning, supporting positive mathematical identities and helping students see themselves as capable mathematical thinkers.
Using a common Linkbot Bundle as both hands-on manipulatives and reconfigurable robotic systems, RoboBlocky Math supports students in applying their mathematical reasoning and robotics skills through optional robotics projects, including open-ended activities such as RoboParade and RoboPlay Challenge Competitions. The RoboParade Showcases and RoboPlay Showcases pages highlight student creativity in both project-based and competitive settings, demonstrating the real-world application of mathematical concepts. These experiences also foster mathematical thinking, adaptability, problem-solving, teamwork, collaboration, communication, time management, social-emotional learning, and perseverance — all aligned with the California Math Framework.
The program has demonstrated significant achievement gains for all students, including English learners, at-risk students, advanced learners, and special education students. For example, in one successful implementation at Hacienda La Puente Unified School District, the percentage of sixth-grade students meeting or exceeding state mathematics standards increased from 16% to 71%, representing a 344% improvement. Notably, the percentage of students achieving Exceeded Standards increased from 6% to 52%, while the percentage of students who Did Not Meet Standards decreased from 52% to 10%. In addition, a special education student improved from Not Met Standards to Exceeded Standards. For many students, this was the first time they achieved Exceeded Standards on a state mathematics assessment, representing a transformative shift in both performance and confidence as mathematics learners, illustrating how HQIM-aligned instruction can drive measurable student success..
Together, these math success stories and results from diverse school districts illustrate how RoboBlocky Math supports equitable and effective STEM education, raises achievement for all students, and creates engaging learning experiences that connect mathematics to students’ lives.
