Trace Line Color and Width
In this lesson, you will learn how to change the color and width of a robot’s trace line. The video shows how to use a
traceColor block to pick a new color and make the trace line wider or thinner. You can add more than one
traceColor block in your code to change the trace line as the robot moves.
1. Change the Color and Width of a Robot’s Trace Line
As the robot drives, it draws a line on the grid. This line is called the trace line.
You can change the color and the width of the trace line using the traceColor block. There are two versions of this block.
The first version only changes the color. To pick a new color, click the colored square in the block and choose from the pop-up menu.
The second version changes the color and the width of the trace line. Similar to the first version, you can change the color by clicking the colored square. To change the width, type a number into the blue number block. A bigger number makes the line wider, and a smaller number makes the line thinner.
You can use more than one traceColor block in a program. The robot will follow the color and width set by the most recent traceColor block. If you want the trace line to change again later in the code, you can add another traceColor block with new settings.
